By  Sana Fatima

With fear of weight gain and obesity on the rise, it has become almost an obsession in everyone’s mind as to how they should go about reducing weight and burning fats and calories. With long sittings and office hours, most of the people who work nine to five face a severe threat of gaining uncontrollable weight and getting fat.

Thus, people who are engaged in long working timings and eating junk food are turning more and more towards finding new ways of burning their fats and calories. Latest researches state that it is better to control your increasing weight and fats through healthy diet rather than medicines which also pose a threat of side effects.

What are fat burning foods?

Those foods that burn more calories than the calorie content of the foods itself are known as fat burning foods. The secret to losing weight is to eat and drink the right kinds of foods until you are full and satisfied. It includes fat and calorie burning foods.

There are certain foods which actually burn more fats than the calorie content of the food itself. These fat burning foods or so called negative calorie foods are natural plant foods.

Which foods burn fat?

Foods rich in vitamin C such as fruits like limes, lemons, oranges, grapefruit and tangerines have fat burning properties so they may be called as fat burning foods or fat burners.

Some of the other fat burning foods are asparagus, beet root, broccoli, cabbage, carrot, apple, blueberries and watermelon. If you eat these fat burning foods and do some exercise, it will boost your metabolism and burn calories (fat) at a faster rate for several hours even after exercise.

Remember, in order to lose weight you have to burn more fats and calories than you consume. This can be done by eating fat burning foods. This will help your body burning up the excessive stored fat.

Some tips on burning fats and calories

Taking green tea

Green tea helps in boosting your metabolism. It was observed that people who took green tea three times a days, their metabolic rate increased by about 4%. It may happen as green tea contains Catechins, which increase levels of the metabolism speeding brain chemical known as norepinephrine. Green tea is known to burn calories and fats.

Eat foods rich in iron

Eating iron in a balanced amount helps in providing sufficient amount of oxygen to your cells which in turn increases your metabolism. You can balance your iron intake either by eating food stuffs full of iron or take iron supplements. Foods such as lean red meat, chicken, cereal and nuts are rich in iron.

Take breakfast regularly

Studies have shown that eating a healthy breakfast on regular basis helps in managing weight problems. Almost 80% of the people, who were successful in reducing weight, took regular breakfast. The reason is that while sleeping the metabolism slows downs and with breakfast the process of digesting foods starts up again. Try to take 300-400 calories breakfast which consists of high fiber cereal and fruit and milk.

Some other helpful tips for burning fats and calories

  • Eat dairy products rich in calcium like milk, cheese and yogurt as they can boost weight loss by increasing fat breakdown in fat cells.

  • Exercise is a good way to burn fats and calories. Try to do squats, bench step-ups, push-ups, pull-ups and other exercises. Even doing them for 10 minutes will boost your metabolism which stays active for 2 hours.

Burning calories and fats with balanced diet is the best way to control your weight. This will not only lead you to a healthier life style but will also make you more active and agile.
